A one-off contract, a seasonal peak, a machine that’s gone down and needs replacing today, these are all situations where renting is simply the sensible call. The catch is that rental contracts all look alike until you read what’s actually in them, and that’s where the real costs hide. Here’s how it works and what to check before you sign.

When renting is the right call

One-off or occasional contract: you have a plant to finish and no similar work lined up soon.

Workload peak: your own machine is tied up on another site and you can’t afford to slow down.

Unexpected breakdown: you need a replacement on site fast.

Try before you buy: you want to see how a model performs on your ground before investing.

Site far from your base: sometimes renting near the site costs less than trucking your own machine across the country.

If you have back-to-back work all year, the maths changes and buying, new or used, is worth looking at.

Rental formats

Rental is usually structured on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, with rates dropping as the term lengthens. On some equipment there’s also a buy-out option at the end of the rental: what you’ve paid comes off the purchase price if you decide to keep the machine. If that interests you, ask up front whether it’s available on the model you need, it isn’t automatic across every unit.

One distinction that causes confusion in the Italian market: “a freddo” (dry hire) means the machine only, operated by your own crew. “A caldo” (wet hire) means machine plus a trained operator. They’re two different services at two different prices, make sure you know which one you’re being quoted before comparing offers.

What to check before you sign

What the rate includes: transport out and back, insurance, routine maintenance, hours included and the cost of hours beyond that.

Who pays for a breakdown and how fast a replacement arrives: three days down on a deadline-driven site costs more than any saving on the rate.

Hammer energy: make sure it suits your ground and your piles, solar piles typically call for 950 to 1,200 Joules.

Accessories included: extractor, extended column, down-the-hole tool for pre-drilling rock. If your ground needs them and they’re not in the deal, the base machine won’t be enough.

Documentation: CE certification and operating manual should travel with the machine.

The machine’s real condition: ask for current photos and, where possible, video of it running.

How we work

DAMAC handles sales and rental of earthmoving machinery across Italy and abroad. Every machine that leaves us is verified, photographed transparently and described with real data: on request we provide video of the machine running and the CE documentation. We handle national and international transport and back it with technical and commercial support before and after, from someone who knows the machine, not a call centre.

Ask for current availability

Rates and available machines change with the season and the region. The fastest way to get a firm number is to tell us where you are, how long you need it, and what kind of piles you’re driving: we’ll tell you what we have, what it costs, and how soon it can be on site. And if renting isn’t the better option in your case, we’ll say so.

Earthmoving machinery, sales and rental, DAMAC 📞 +39 064 592 0494 · ✉️ info@damac.it · 🌐 damac.it

Not every jobsite justifies buying a pile driver.
