Used or New Pile Driver? How to Choose and What to Check Before You Buy

A pile driver is a serious investment, and the first question buyers ask is almost always the same: is a new machine or a used one the better call? There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, it depends on how much work you have ahead, your budget, and how much downtime you can absorb if something needs servicing. At DAMAC we sell both, and this guide helps you choose with a clear head and know exactly what to check before you sign.

New: when it makes sense

A new pile driver is worth it when you have back-to-back jobsites and can’t afford unexpected stoppages. The concrete advantages:

  • Full warranty and complete documentation, CE certification, manual and official technical datasheet.
  • No prior wear: no unknowns about working hours or the condition of the hammer and hydraulics.
  • Built-to-order configuration: you can specify the accessories you actually need (extractor, down-the-hole tool, extended column).
  • Schedulable delivery: for example, the new TURCHI 300F is available for prompt delivery in Parma, starting at around €82,000 excluding VAT, with an optional mechanical extractor.

Used: when it’s the right choice

A well-kept used pile driver gets you into a lower investment and pays back sooner, a sensible move if your workload is seasonal or you’re adding a second machine to the fleet. The risk, of course, is buying blind. This is where who you buy from changes everything.

The checklist: what to inspect on a used pile driver

Before buying a used machine, always ask to verify:

  1. Real working hours and whether they’re consistent with the machine’s overall condition.
  2. Hydraulic hammer: rated impact energy (solar piles typically need 950–1,200 Joules) and wear.
  3. Hydraulic system: no leaks, correct operating pressure, condition of pump and hoses.
  4. Tracks: rubber or steel, level of wear, integrity of the pads.
  5. Column and verticality system: mechanical play, tilt function, GPS if fitted.
  6. Documentation: CE certification, operating manual, maintenance history.

If the seller can’t give you these details, that’s already an answer.

Why seller transparency matters more than price

In the used market, the lowest price often hides the highest risk. At DAMAC every machine, new or used, is verified, photographed transparently and described with real data, not generic boilerplate. On request we provide video of the machine running, CE documentation, and we put you in touch with someone who knows the machine: no call centre. We handle transport across Italy and abroad and support you with pre- and post-sale assistance. Delivery times vary with availability, typically 14 to 45 days.

What a pile driver costs

Price depends on model, hours, accessories and condition. As a reference, a new professional-grade self-propelled pile driver starts at around €82,000 excluding VAT; used machines sit below that, across a wide range depending on the real state of the unit. For an exact price on the model you’re after, the fastest route is to ask for a current quote based on what’s in stock.

Talk to a person, not a form

Whether you’re weighing new or used, the right choice starts with an honest conversation about your jobsite. Browse the available machines on damac.it, or call us: we’ll tell you, with real data, which machine fits you, and if we don’t have it, we’ll say so.
